5 am rolled around quick on Sat am and I was headed to CT for our first Sonic swim clinic.  It was great to be back.  This was the pool that I taught at for 10 years…before we were relocated to PA.  We had a group of 14 swimmers that had a variety of abilities and we were able to spend some one on one time with all of them which is critical in swimming.

Swimming is by far, my favorite part of the sport of triathlon.  I love a HARD pool workout!  Admittedly, it comes easier as I grew up swimming (THANKS MOM AND DAD)… as an adult onset swimmer it can be frustrating to develop the skills and technique to become efficient in the water.  We were able to video everyone with underwater cameras and shoot enough footage that we could identify key areas of improvement and general swimming errors.

From there we headed to the classroom, and watched the videos…Kelly did a great job walking through the various tips and drills that we had practiced and how to apply them.  We taped an entire library of swim drills to share with our athletes so those that were not able to attend will not miss out.

From there we headed to dinner with a mix of athletes and ambassadors for the races that Kelly directs.  The running and triathlon conversation flowed freely…it was a good thing we ended rather early I was falling asleep.

Sun am I was able to catch up with some friends and college roommates…it is nice to pick up right where you left off and know that good friendships are such a blessing.

and upon my return to PA…we are currently getting pounded with 16″ of snow….our kids will be in school until July!
