Lake Placid Training Weekend!

June 25th, 2015 | Posted by Stacey in Uncategorized

Last weekend we headed to Lake Placid for our annual Sonic Training Weekend.  We had a great time hosting athletes, all who are racing this year.  I love this course, the area, and all of the things about this race.  It is hard and hilly and fun.

Training camps or weekends away are critical I think…especially in long course training.  Everyone is so busy with work, family and commitments that we often loose some of the recovery and key components to making your race a success.  This weekend we wanted to make sure that everyone got in some quality work and confidence building while having some fun along the way. It was a great weekend to having nothing on the agenda but training and recovering.

We were lucky with the weather and had a near perfect weekend.  The water is already warm…mid 60s and there was not a ton of traffic on the lake.  We were able to get in several open water swims, practicing sighting and hanging out on the cable line.

We had Shaun come up to help and he was GREAT….he hung out in the car all day on Sat while we rode the course…he rerouted lost campers and made sure everyone had fluid and fuel.. once we were back and out running he cooked an amazing dinner for all of us..THANKS SHAUN!!!  It is so inspiring to spend the weekend training with others who love the sport and the work that you have to do.  These guys did an amazing job and we had a ton of fun.
